Punta Cana International Airport is rated among the three best terminals in the region

SANTO DOMINGO. The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) was chosen among the three best in the Latin American and Caribbean region for the “Airport Service Quality (ASQ)” award, in the category of up to two million passengers per year, reported today the Grupo Punta Cana, through a press release.

The award was given by the Airports Council International (ACI). Airports from all over the world participate in this, of which 17 are from Latin America and the Caribbean. The participants were evaluated through the opinion of the passengers, taking into account 34 key indicators on quality in the administration and in the provision of services.

In the note, the Group highlighted that the PUJ currently receives more than 60% of all flights and passengers arriving in the country, so last year it mobilized 3,187,749 foreigners. They also highlighted that in the last five years, the terminal has registered a sustained increase of more than 7%.

“This recognition reaffirms our commitment to having the best airport infrastructure in the Caribbean,” said Frank Rainieri, vice president of Grupo Puntacana.

As proof of this, they cited the constant renovations to which the airport has been subjected, among which they highlighted that, in May 2015, the PUJ obtained prequalification to operate flights from the United States as if it were a domestic terminal, for which installed a United States immigration and customs lounge in the airport facilities. They also highlighted that the airport has adopted environmental sustainability characteristics in its operations.
